Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) in Shasta County

The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study is one of the largest investigations ever conducted to assess associations between childhood maltreatment and later-life health and well-being. Our presenter will go over what the ACE factors are and how they pertain to Shasta County families in particular.

Protective Factors: Helping to prevent or overcome ACES

Protective factors are conditions or attributes (skills, strengths, resources, supports or coping strategies) in individuals, families, communities or the larger society that help people deal more effectively with stressful events and mitigate or eliminate risk in families and communities. Our presenter will go over the Five Protective Factors that builds family strengths and a health family environment.

Skill Builders & Parent Partners: Working with teens who are at risk for out of home placement.

Our Skill Builder works directly with the at risk youth. The intensive program will help the teen with drug treatment, mental health treatment and help support the teen with basic support.

Our Parent Partners work with the parents with ongoing crisis support. This might mean helping them find stable jobs, help with housing issues, help find affordable and reliable childcare, and help them work on parenting skills.

The presenters will share with your group, firsthand accounts on how the program has shaped and changed the lives of many at risk families living in Shasta County.

AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a government funded community service program designed to help communities meet the specific needs in their area by recruiting and training individuals who are willing to devote one to two years serving select community projects. Our presenter will give a brief history of AmeriCorps and then go over the current projects we are involved in.

CAPCC Family Resource Center

Shasta CAPCC recently opened a Family Resource Center at our Bechelli Office. Our presenter will talk about all the services and referrals our Family Resource Center provides.
