Diaperpalooza 2016

Shasta County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council is excited to launch its 4th Annual Diaperpalooza starting September 1st. The goal of our drive is to raise 25,000 or the funds to buy them, by October 4th for our Family Resource Center. Diaperpalooza kicks off with an online diaper drive, via Amazon.com. We will finish Diaperpalooza the last week of September, which is National Diaper Needs Awareness week. (Sept. 26th - Oct 2nd, 2016)

What is Diaper Need?

Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy.

Why is Diaper Need important to Child Abuse Prevention?

The likelihood of abuse increases when a baby is in a household facing the stress of poverty, and increases even more when that baby is crying due to the discomfort of a soiled diaper and the health issues that can result.

Fast Facts about #DiaperNeed:

~ 1 in 3 families struggle with Diaper Need.

~ 25% of Shasta County families with children under the age of 6 years live below the poverty level.

~ Government safety- net programs like CalFresh and WIC do not recognize diapers as a basic need.

~ Infants require up to 12 diapers a day, at a cost of $70 - $80 per a month per baby.

~ Most child care centers require parents to provide a day's supply of disposable diapers (four to six changes a day).

~ Many parents cannot go to work or school if they can not leave their babies at child care.

~ Diaper Need impacts the physical, mental and economic well-being of children and parents.

ANYONE or ANY GROUP of individuals who care about helping babies can participate in DIAPERPALOOZA!

Help us spread awareness through your social media contacts by using the hashtag #DiaperNeed, #Diaperpalooza and @ShastaCAPCC. Take pictures of you and/or your group collecting diapers and post them on our Social Media Sites.
